Fraud related to EMI Moratorium: Banks request clients not to share OTP/CVV with shams

Reserve Bank of India had issued the notification about three months moratorium on EMI installments of all term credits, including retail and yield advances and working capital installments.

In an offer to caution clients against fraudsters, driving banks alert their clients against ‘EMI Moratorium Frauds’ and had asked them not to share delicate data like OTP and PIN with fraudsters.

Axis Bank said in an email to clients that fraudsters have begun another business as usual to access banking details. The fraudster will have baseless access to your financial data prompting money loss after getting your confidential data.

Fraud is committed by calling an individuals for “offering” a moratorium on their advances. Fraudsters send some links to compromise individual information or send messages over SMS or WhatsApp. No bank will ask a client for these secret credentials and anyone looking for such data might be fraudster.

 

ICICI banks has issued some tips to protect its customers and to create awareness among peoples

1) Do not share your OTP: Bank has asked its customers not to share their OTP to avail moratorium. Bank never calls its customer to know sensitive data like debit/credit cards numbers, OTP, net banking password, CVV, UPI pin,etc,.

2) Disable the auto-save or auto-complete features in mobile banking App.

3) Don’t respond to phishing links/text: Sometimes message comes to our mobile asking to click on the link to avail moratorium. These types of links are malicious which can siphone your money off.

4) Don’t share sensitive data on calls: Bank do not call customer to ask any private or confidential information. In case of doubt call or mail to your bank and ask them about the call received.

 

It is also advise from bank zone not to donate in PM cars fund from authorized sites. Pay only from your trusted sites or App. Before doing any banking transactions, kindly check the url which must contain HTTPS secured protocol. Don’t download any mp3 or video from an un-trusted groups. Now a days people downloads movies and songs from Telegram channels, it is important to be cautious while downloading. If any link is clicked by you by mistake from non-trusted sites or groups then turn off your internet quickly and open it after 10 to 15 minutes.
